One consistent lesson that keeps reoccurring in my life is the importance of focusing on my own journey and this post is an expression of how important it is to invest in yourself. In this day and age I feel like there is a fine line between being the biggest cheerleader for your friends,or favourite influencers and completely neglecting your ambitions through focusing your time and energy on other people’s lives.

The moments I am on social media I can’t help but notice the number of people who are so invested in other people’s lives e.g. relationships, family lives etc. I know we live in a gossip culture and everyone wants to know everyone’s business.

However, if you want to get to where you want to be you’re surely not going to get there by watching somebody else live their life the way they want to, yes be the biggest cheerleader but realise that you need to divert your attention to yourself.  It’s just as simple as when you’re driving; if you keep focusing on what others are doing on the road, we all know how that story will end. Instead if we focus on what’s ahead of us then we will get to our destination in our own time, occasional glances are necessary of course.

What usually happens is the more you are invested in other people’s lives inevitably you will start comparing yourself, how do I know this, been there done that. Therefore, I do encourage investing in yourself whether thats financially or investing time into doing what you love, and sometimes if that means shutting down do what’s necessary.
